The UK is hugely disadvantaged by its language policy. Successive governments have done nothing to address the huge damage being wreaked on the UK economy by its inability to embrace the concept of fostering language learning.

The Oxford German Network Fest is a good example of right-minded people attempting to address this, but unfortunately a mere drop in the ocean. This article stresses the good work being done despite the crisis of language learning in the UK.
